Principal’S MESSAGE – january

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

Happy New Year!  I hope that everyone had a joyous and memorable holiday spent with family and friends.  May this year bring you, and your family, great happiness, good health, and prosperity.  Here at school, we are ready to make 2015 a year filled with success as a result of hard work and dedication.

January is a great time to reflect on the areas in our lives in which we experienced much success throughout the past year.  It is also a time to consider how to make changes in those areas in which we would like to improve.  Below are some tips to help students kick off the new year on the right foot:

  • Get plenty of sleep:  Studies have shown that students who do not get enough sleep experience difficulties paying attention in class and do not do as well in school.

  • Eat healthy: Eat more fruits, nuts, and vegetables.  Drink at least 8 (8oz) glasses of water each day.  Limit the amount of sodas and snack foods you eat.

  • Exercise your body and mind daily

  • Follow the Golden Rule – Treat others the way you would like to be treated.

  • Time + Effort = Achievement: Take the time to carefully complete all assignments at school, and at home.  Ask questions when uncertain and demonstrate perseverance.  Make it a goal to do your personal best at school every day.

  • Read, read, and read: Read to get information, read for fun, read to someone in your family…………just read!

  • Attend school regularly and on time

  • Write about your plan for success:  The plan may include getting better grades, making new friends, studying harder, staying out of trouble, etc.  Share your plan with someone who can help you to reach your goal.

As we look ahead to the month of January, there are a few dates to be mindful of:

January 7th – Hot lunch for those who pre-ordered

January 12th – School Council Meeting at 7:00 pm

January 14th – Jersey Day

January 21-st – Hot lunch for those who pre-ordered

Have a fantastic year!
