March Message

February definitely was fast and furious!  With the week off so that teachers could take part

in professional development opportunities, the month flew by.  Hopefully the kids enjoyed their

time off and found some time to rest and relax.  While at school, the kids were immersed in

important learning activities.  Of course we found some time to squeeze in some school wide

activities and events, such as Pink Day and Jump Rope for Heart, as these events help bring us

together and promote global citizenship.  The kids deserve to be commended for all of their

fundraising efforts and contributions to the Heart & Stroke foundation.  Together, they raised

over $1600!  They fulfilled their commitment to those who donated and completed

various jump rope activities on February 27th.

What are your thoughts:  Will March come in like a lion, and go out like a lamb?

The virtue of the month is RESPECT.  We show RESPECT by speaking and acting with

courtesy.  We treat others with dignity and honor the rules of our family, school, and nation.

Respect yourself, and others will respect you!

“Be the change you want to see in the world.”

~Mahatma Gandhi~

A big thank you goes out to all of those who completed the ACCOUNTABILITY PILLAR surveys.

Your input and feedback is extremely valuable.

Report cards will be distributed on March 6th.  Parent teacher interviews will follow on March 12th

from 3:45 – 6:45 pm.  We are going to follow the same interview format as November.  As

such, no appointments are necessary.  If the teacher is available, please feel free to drop in.  If

the teacher is with another parent, simply have a seat or drop by another classroom.

If this date does not work for you, please remember that teachers are always willing to meet

with parents upon request.  We encourage you to stay in close contact with the school whether it

is by phone, letter, email, visit, or daily agenda correspondence.  Parents are a huge part of the

   learning team!

School fees are PAST DUE.  For those with an unpaid school fee, please make your payment

online or by stopping by the school office by March 12th.  For online payment, please follow the

link below to register online (it should take less than 5 minutes).  Once you have registered your

child, it is possible to pay the fee.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have any questions during the registration process or while shopping online, please select the SUPPORT option in the top right hand area of the screen.

We would like to invite you ALL to our next School Council Meeting on March 16th at 7:00 pm. It is

a great way to stay informed about what is happening at the school.  It also provides an open

forum for you to voice your suggestions for school improvement.

All students will be provided with the opportunity to take part in the Rocks & Rings program on

March 6th.  Please ensure that your child wears comfortable clothes to school that day.

On March 18th and 20th, representatives from Alien In-Line will be at Carseland School.  The

program teaches many basic and advanced skating skills.  Although Alien In-Line provides

protective gear for each student (knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, helmet),  students may

bring their own helmet  for use during the program.  They also suggest that students wear

comfortable clothes (not too tight and not too baggy), and clean, dry socks.

Please remember too that each child is required to pay $18 and submit a parent/guardian

consent form, on or before March 17th.

Information regarding these two programs was sent home in the red folders in February.

Please keep in mind the following:

The registration deadline is Friday, March 20th.

Babysitting Course (11 years +):  Cost is $50.00 – (8:30 am to 2:30 pm)

Home Alone Course (9 years +):  Cost is $35.00 –  (8:30 am to 12:00 pm)

All students in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 are invited to attend the ski trip to Nakiska on March 25th.

Personnel from the hill, and they are optimistic that there will be adequate snow on the hill for our

trip to be enjoyable.  Please ensure that your child’s waiver form and money is submitted on or

before March 23rd.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact

   Miss. Seabrook at the school.

 Have a great March everyone!
